This course will be taught by way of lectures and tutorials. Students are expected to participate in class, particularly during the tutorial sessions, when substantive preparation will be necessary.
As the topics covered are diverse, there is no one recommended textbook. Students are advised to pay attention to the cases and statutory provisions on the reading list, and to use the lectures and tutorials to provide a structure and framework within which to fit their own reading. They should also explore the offerings of the law library for relevant materials to supplement their understanding where necessary. A few useful books are noted in the reading list for general guidance, but these are by no means exhaustive.
