NURSING PRACTICE EXPERIENCE 3.1

Learning Outcomes

TopThe module enables students to integrate nursing theory and clinical knowledge through experience in clinical placement attachments in community health services, and medical/ hospice/ aged care facilities. Students will focus on planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care for clients in the community health services and medical/ hospice/ aged care facilities. Students will apply knowledge from nursing and clinical sciences in the clinical management, health promotion and education of patients. Attendance for the scheduled clinical practicum is mandatory.

Upon completion of the module, students will be able to:
  1. demonstrate competency to provide ethical and safe patient care in designated hospital and primary healthcare settings;
  2. apply theoretical concepts to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for patients;
  3. apply theoretical, research and clinical knowledge in the delivery of nursing care;
  4. apply problem solving and critical thinking skills inthe delivery of multidisciplinary care;
  5. use reflective practice to evaluate their own learning;
  6. apply effective techniques in communicating with patients, relatives, peers and health care agency staff;
  7. collaborate effectively with members of the multidisciplinary team in the delivery of planned care;
  8. demonstrate understanding of the roles and contribution of members in the multidisciplinary team; and
  9. utilise opportunities for health promotion activities and disease prevention for healthy ageing in the community setting.
