This course examines the legal and policy issues relating to information technology from the perspectives of a creator and user of intellectual property. Among the issues discussed are copyright in software and electronic materials, software patents, electronic databases and rights management information. (The non-intellectual property law issues are addressed in "IT Law II".) Students who have done intellectual property law or who are keen to learn about the interface between law, technology, policy and economic rights will find this course interesting.
NUS Compulsory Core Law Curriculum or equivalent.
9 session over 3 weeks: Three 3hr weekly seminar
Intensive: Wk 1 to 3; Dates: 14 - 31 Aug 2012 [Make-up seminar in Wed, 22 Aug (1 - 4pm)]
Mode of Assessment:
Class Participation - 10% & 6-hr Take Home Exam - 90% [Release: Sat 6 Oct 2012 (1pm); Due: Sat 6 Oct 2012 (7pm)]
