TRADE DISPUTE MECHANISMS

This course will examine the structure and decision-making methods used in major trade dispute settlement systems. Students will be exposed to dispute settlement mechanisms under the WTO, FTAs (e.g.,Korea-US & Korea-Singapore FTAs) and international arbitration systems. The course will present a comparative perspective to give students an appreciation of the peculiarities of each system. Selected cases of each system, whether actual or hypothetical, will be analysed. The course will be of interest to those preparing to negotiate or advise on trade agreements or disputes involving WTO or FTAs.
NUS Compulsory Core Law Curriculum or equivalent.
9 session over 3 weeks: Three 3hr weekly seminar
