INTRODUCTION TO REAL ESTATE VALUATION
2018/2019, Semester 2
School of Design and Environment (Real Estate)
Modular Credits: 4
The introductory module to real estate valuation will cover 2 main parts: the first will provide the fundamental concepts, theory, principles and practices of valuation; the second will cover the main methods of valuation. The fundamentals are important for the foundation, which will be built upon as you move on to Level 2000 and Level 3000. So, you should learn to understand the concepts and theory well as this will help in the upper levels.
This is the first introductory module in real estate valuation.
Primarily lectures and tutorials. Reading widely on real estate news is highly recommended since valuation requires knowledge of the real estate market. Site visits (often as part of projects) are particularly useful as you will get to know the market first hand.
Weekly lectures and bi-weekly tutorials.
See lecture 1 notes.
See module outline.
Actual valuations as part of projects will be introduced.
Assessment will comprise term tests, tutorial participation and exams.
