To secure an internship and subsequently a good job offer, it is crucial that students are well-informed of job market trends and able to differentiate themselves with qualities that recruiters are looking for.
Through this six week program (F1 Wed class), students will be equipped with essential career skills for smooth transition from the classroom to the boardroom. They will learn job search strategies, resume writing, interviewing skills, networking techniques and business etiquette that are critical to their job success. Students will get to work on their resume and participate in mock interviews. The program structure is as follows: Session 1: (i) Introduction to Career Planning (ii) Personal Branding and Marketing Plan Session 2: Successful Transition from University to Workforce Session 3: Resume and Cover Letter Writing Session 4: (i) Competing Successfully at Interviews (ii) The Art of Networking Session 5: (i) Excelling in the Corporate World (ii) Motivational Appraisal of Personal Potential (MAPP) Session 6: (i) Dressing Right for Interview and Work (ii) Dining Etiquette.
Instead of a six week programme, the module is also be held intensively over 2.5 days during the recess week for "F2 Recess Week Class". The exact dates are 23, 24 and 25 February 2009.
