The course covers the fundamental principles and practice of design and construction for real estate developments by examining the key
drivers, processes, roles and responsibilities of stakeholders. Students will gain a better understanding on
how design and construction affect economic viability (profits & costs), functional operations,
environmental, social and behavioral well-being.
The course provides basic technical grounding on construction issues including contracts, regulations, building systems, materials and technology.
Students will learn to ‘read’
building plans, review and analyze the impact of building design
in the built environment. Students will develop effective leadership skills in managing designers, consultants and contractors in development projects.
