TR3001 New Product Development – Project Guidelines

The various assignments will result in a product prototype. It is crucial for a project team to choose a product idea that meets the following guides:

  • Demonstrable market for the product (access to more than 10 potential users)
  • Feasible to produce a prototype at the end of course(product can be physical or software, but not service)
  • Employ standard parts and current technologies (there is not enough time to deal with uncertainties)

 Potential Product Ideas:

Electronics

  • Clock
  • Projector
  • Outdoor Display Panel
  • Night Light (LED-based)
  • ePhotoFrame
  • eLock (baggage, bicycle, steering-wheel)
  • LED Hazard Light for Cars

Software

  • Handphone Games

Life Science / Healthcare

  • Thermometer
  • Pregnancy Kit
  • DNA Kit
  • Heart-rate Monitor

Mechanical

  • Wine Opener
  • BBQ Table
  • Screw Driver
  • Stationeries
  • Water Purifier
