This course requires students to apply all the skills they have learned in the Legal Skills Programme and introduces additional skills. In this course, students work on a complex commercial transaction which raises issues in several subject areas, some of which students will not have studied. Working in teams, students will analyse the legal and commercial issues arising out of the transaction, and will render advice to "clients". Students will then be required to structure, draft and negotiate agreements reflecting the preferences of their clients while protecting their interests.
This course is designed to teach students how to:
analyse complex hypothetical problems containing multiple legal issues from different areas of the law;
analyse and research issues in areas of law they have not studied; and
understand how the legal issues are linked to the transactional goals of the parties.
This course also exposes students to transactional documentation (drafting and review), client service skills and a basic understanding of business.
