The primary aim of the module is to help students to understand the fundamentals of applying Statistics in business applications and enable them to master the complete cycle of statistical analysis, including problem modeling, data collection, and data analysis.
Knowledge in basic probablity distribution will help you understand the course better.
Seminar format with tutorial homeworks.
The module will cover the following topics:
Introduction to Statistics
Chapter 1 & 2
Sampling and Sampling Distributions
Confidence Interval Estimation
Chapter 9 & 10
Analysis of Variance
Simple Linear Regression
The course introduces to students the complete cycle of statistical analysis in business applications. Case studies are used throughout the course for students to appreciate the applications of various statistics techniques in tackling problems faced in real life business. The techniques covered in this course include Sampling and Sampling Distribution, Confidence Interval Estimation, Hypothesis Testing, ANOVA and Simple Regression.
Class participation 20%
