Real Estate Finance
This module examines the main theories and practices of real estate financing in the project and corporate finance context. Empahsis will be placed more on the corporate financing context. Students will learn the theories, techniques and practices of and corporate finance applicable to real estate investment and business portfolios. Major topics include: real estate corporate finance, analysis of financial and stock market performance, capital structure and decisions, cost of capital, coporate growth and valuation, NAV discounts/premium and business strategies, real setate corporate case studies, mortgage financing, sale and leaseback, investment feasibility analysis,.
course participants should have taken and passed a course in real estate investment analysis (RE5003)
Formal lectures, seminar-style discussion, case analysis, problem solving, group project, individual assignment and final examination

This module has two components which should be examined interactively: real estate investment (individual/project perspective) and corporate finance (portfolio perspective).
An introductory lecture will serve to explain a course summary, outlines and academic requirements during the first class session.

Individual seminar participation: (up to 10 bonus marks)
Final examination: 35%
