This module is targeted at computer science graduate students and covers the major aspects of building streaming media applications -- from coding to transmission to playback. Issues such as transport protocols, control protocols, caching, buffering, synchronisation and adaptations will be examined. After taking the course, students are expected to understand the network and OS issues involved in building continuous media applications, and able to apply practical solutions to solve them.
Lectures are every Monday from 18:30 to 20:30, Room to be announced.
