Continuous Assessment (30%): Thursday, 1 Oct 2009, 12.30pm - 1.30 pm, LS Lab 9, Level 4 (MD4) Department of Microbiology.
Covers lecture topics 1 - 12 and material taught in the first practical/tutorial. This CA will comprise questions with five related statements, each requiring a true/false response. For each correct response 1 mark is awarded, for each incorrect response 1 mark is deducted, for each unanswered statement there is no mark awarded or deducted. The minumum score for each question (group of 5 statements) is zero.
Final examination (70%): 2 hour paper. 23 Nov 2009 (Mon), 9 am. Please refer to Registrar's Office notice before exam to verify date/time.
The final exam will be made up of two parts.
Part I: True/false questions similar to the CA but covering topics not previously assessed (lecture topics 13 - 24, and the last 2 practicals/tutorials). Weightage: 20% of total module score.
Part II: Multiple (8) open-ended questions requiring written answers. You will be given about 10 minutes to answer each question, so these are not long essays. Questions may be asked on any part of the entire module, including topics discussed during practical classes. The questions will be of an applied nature, testing understanding of principles and concepts in immunology. Examples of such questions will be covered throughout the semester's tutorials. Weightage: 50% of total module score.
