2015/2016, Semester 1
Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music (Yong Siew Toh Conservatory Of Music)
Modular Credits: 4
MUA1114 or permission from the Instructor
This module will take a blended approach to teaching and learning. Much of your learning should be done outside of class using the readings, videos, and self-assessments offered. Class will review and extend these materials. Class time will also be given to answering your questions, doing activities that reenforce the learning materials, and giving feedback on the your projects as they are being developed.
The module will include a series of projects. These are detailed on the wiki page. There are soft deadlines for projects, for me to review each project and give you feedback for improvement. A portfolio of all of your projects completed during the course of the semester is due on the Monday or Finals Week 1 at 9am.
For this semester, the module will include materials that are being developed for a forthcoming curriculum revision of the entire 4-semester sequence of computer music for composition majors. In the first 6 weeks, we will cover the content on Recording as Compositional Practice. In weeks 7-13 we will look at materials related to synthesis and signal processing. We will not finish all of the materials related to synthesis and signal processing this semester. That will be picked up in the following semester.
Please see the following wiki page for details on the content of this module as well as the lesson plan.
