 AIMS & OBJECTIVES Top
This primary goal of this module is to introduce students to two major types of wireless networks. First, concepts in cellular networking, including the various generations of cellular networks are introduced. Important concepts related to the design of air interfaces, MAC protocol, QoS, spectrum allocation, mobility management are presented. Second, the students are introduced to the emerging area of sensor networks. Here, the major topic covered are MAC, routing and transport protocols. In this module, there is a strong emphasis on exposing students to practical network system issues by encouraging them to build software prototypes as part of their assessments.
